The Church of the Archangel Michael
The Church of the Archangel Michael is the first church of the Russian Orthodox Church built in Spain and on the Iberian Peninsula. It was constructed in the style of 17th-century Russian wooden architecture.
The uniqueness of the Church of the Archangel Michael lies in the fact that, in the two-thousand-year history of Christianity, it was the first Russian Orthodox church to be built on Spanish soil. It became the westernmost outpost of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Eurasian continent.
The church was founded and sponsored by the Botsko family from Rostov-on-Don, Russia.
